SF101: Living the Christian Year

An introduction to the Christian Year, which is based on the life of Christ.

We will seek to understand the significance of each remembrance: Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Christ’s Death & Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, and the Ordinary Times.

The Christian Year is a wonderful rhythm of grace that helps us to walk afresh with Jesus each year, following in His footsteps in order to counter-act the deadening effect of busyness and hurry.

Date: 6, 13, 20 Nov 2021 (Saturdays)
Time: 2.30-5.30pm
Venue: Virtual (note that our class size is small, interaction is expected even when conducted virtually).
Recommended donation of $100 to CSF.

SF102: Introduction to Spiritual Formation

SF102 is the 2nd in the series of CSF’s Spiritual Formation courses. It provides a first broad introduction to spiritual formation, subsequent courses that come after will layer on the learning, with a closer look at various aspects of spiritual formation.

In this course, the focus is not only to learn & understand, but also to experience the process of spiritual formation, in community. We draw from the rich Christian spiritual traditions down the centuries to inform and challenge us. The group conversations and practice activities both within and outside of class times are as important as the teaching segments.

SF103: Spiritual Discipline (I) ~ Lectio Divina

The essence of Lectio Divina is prayer, seeking God. It is heartening to learn that the Word of God is not only a revelation of the LORD to His children but also a resource to aid us in our prayer to Him.

In this course, we will learn to let the Word of God descend from our head to our heart and seek God there.  It is there where reading the Bible seeks to challenge our habitual beliefs, attitudes and behaviour.  We become open to the Holy Spirit’s action of grace upon our lives.

Session 1:   Why Lectio Divina
Session 2:   How Lectio Divina
Session 3:   Lectio Divina and Spiritual Formation

    SF100 & 200 Courses

As a resource and learning community, CSF offers series of spiritual formation programmes of increasing depth and duration. These courses aim to provide the foundation and framework for spiritual formation both to deepen the Christian’s communion with God, and to encourage the Christian to live out this deeper life in his or her church community.

There are ten SF100 & 200 level courses over a 2-year cycle. SF300 & 400 level courses are by invitation only.

The SF series' distinctive is the attention given to reflection of the participant’s own walk with God, not just teaching new content. There is time for personal reflection, group sharing, and individual sessions with spiritual guides (SF200 & above).
